RenagelĀ® will be covered by Manufacturer for Medicare Part D Patients

Genzyme covers patients caught by Part D co-payments.

"The American Kidney Fund and Genzyme Corp. announced today that they have launched a new program to provide RenagelĀ® (sevelamer hydrochloride) free of charge to patients who are enrolled in a Medicare prescription drug plan, but cannot afford their co-payments or co-insurance payments for Renagel." Another indication that the transition to Medicare's Plan D prescription insurance program has been a difficult one for patients.

Don't wait for the other pharmaceutical companies to follow suit, though.
